Salt has a long tradition in Hawaii, as in many other cultures. For Hawaiians, salt is an essential part of achieving inner balance. It supports the natural flow of life and symbolizes a deep connection with nature.
The Haiwaiian salts with their distinctive colors reflect the colors of the land. Black Hawaii Salt for the volcanic origin, Red Hawaii Salt for the ever-present Sacred Alaea Earth and for freedom, Green Hawaii Salt for the ubiquitous vegetation and White Hawaii Salt for the water that surrounds the islands and snow-capped peaks.
The salt is extracted from the coast of the Pacific Ocean near the island of Molokai. The water is evaporated using solar energy. The salt crystals are then mixed with plant or mineral extracts to give it the signature colors of Hawaiian salt.
The black Hawaiian salt is created by the addition of pure activated carbon from lava rocks.
