This crystal salt originates from the salt range in Pakistan. The salt range belongs geologically, but not geographically, to the Himalayan massif. Himalayan Crystal Salt formed more than 250 million years ago during the disappearance of the original ocean. It is harvested by hand on the Tibetan high plains.
